I was raised with dogs, chocolate labs to be exact, also with one cat. My house was always energised through them. Sadly I now live in Amsterdam, in an apartment and due to that I do not own a pet, yet I miss having one. I have been a petsitter for various friends so far these last years, because I love doing it. And thought I would like to do it a bit more seriously.
If I were caring for a guest dog in Amsterdam, I’d make sure they stay active, happy, and comfortable while following the routine their owner prefers. I’d take them on regular walks, especially to places like Amsterdamse Bos, where they can enjoy open space, fresh air, and safe paths to explore. Depending on the dog’s energy level, we could do relaxed walks or longer, more active ones. I’d also spend time playing with them, whether that’s fetch, light training exercises, or using interactive toys to keep them mentally stimulated. If the dog is social and the owner is comfortable with it, I’d let them safely interact with other dogs in park areas.
